No, this place is whack. I have to agree. It's like everybody has an attitude and are too busy to help you. I was so put off by it that I just walked out without even seeing anybody. If you can't smile in my face at least, then you must not need my money.

I don’t even know why you have guys pictured on this website when Vivanti barely does men’s hair, unless you’re trying to get a perm or something. This place ain’t no barbershop. In fact, all the men are down the block at the actual barbershop next to the 7-11.

I've been going here since I moved to Silver Spring in August, and Toni whipped my hair into shape! lol Everyone in the salon is pleasant, and I can see that they all do good work. The man does a mean cut, press and curl! haha I would recommend this place for anyone concerned with hair health and who doesn't mind paying a little bit more for a good style.

First off let me say that I'm mixed (½ Black and ½ White) with in-between hair. I had 1 1/2 inches of regrowth and wanted the rest of my hair to match my natural color. My roots were light brown and the rest was dark brown (almost black) and my hair is long, at least halfway down my back.

So I went to my stylist at Vivanti who always cuts my hair (keep in mind I never had a problem before) and she totally messed me up. She was unable to match my roots so she decided to lift the color with bleach. She left the bleach on for way too long under the hot dryer.

My hair is completely fried, falling out, distress, and will not let go of water (it took over 6 hours to air dry and felt like rubber). I have severe chemical damage to my hair. Unfortunately my hair is now a horrid color and gross.

She knew she messed up my hair and tried to shade it. Then it turned light-reddish-mud brown. I need to eventually bring it back to a decent color and revive it's health. I know she felt bad but not bad enough to give me a refund.

Even though I'd been a customer for a long time (over 2 years), that one disaster was enough for me to never go back there again. I'm sorry, but if they had really valued me as a customer, they wouldn't have made me pay for their mistake. Never again.

For all my Kenyan sisters out there, let me give you the 411 on lace front wigs. The difference between a full lace wig and a lace front wig is that full lace wigs can be parted anywhere throughout the wig, while lace front wigs can only be parted in a limited portion of the front.
Lace wigs are popular because you can style them just like you would your natural hair. You can braid it, curl it, wear it in a pony tail or let it fall loose. Therein lies their beauty.

They don't sell wigs at Vivanti. Heck, they won't even style or wash your wigs if you ask for the service. That was a mistake because if they had cut and styled my wig for me (and I liked it), I would've been a loyal customer. Oh well, their loss.

I came here a while ago in October to get my hair straightened. I was very nervous about coming here because at the time I was about 2 years into transitioning from relaxed to natural with very, very thick collar bone length hair.

The stylist first washed my hair and conditioned it, and then proceeded to towel dry it and comb it with a medium sized comb. I was like, "Oh boy, here we go!" I told her I brought my own comb (a wide-toothed big comb) but she did not get the hint and said "Oh, I have my own") *sigh*

Anyway, I fought through the pain. She conditioned and put me under the dryer for 30 minutes. Then she washed the conditioner out, combed my hair roughly again, and put me back under the dryer for another 30 minutes! Why *deeper sigh*

Then, she combed through my hair again. But this is not the worst part. She proceeded to blow dry my hair on the highest heat setting 3 TIMES w/ no heat protectant. I should have left, but I had already been there 2 hours, so I decided to just stay.

Next she flat ironed sections of my hair w/ the highest heat setting yet again. Then she pulled out another flat iron to go over my entire head a second time. In my head I'm thinking "Lady, my hair was already straight after you blow dried it.....WTF!" But next she pulled out the hot comb and went over my head again.

After that I explicitly told her "I do not want a trim today." She said, "Oh no your hair is straight now so I have to give you a trim, don't worry. You're one of those that likes long hair, but don't worry I wont chop it off."

At this point I'm just like, "Kill me now." Anyway, she actually gave me a good trim, but that's beside the point because I seriously did not want one or really need one at that time. I would never come here again, mainly because the stylist did not listen to me, did not know much about natural hair care and the proper precautions, or styling techniques.

Way too much heat was used, AND WITHOUT HEAT PROTECTANT. No wide-tooth combs anywhere in sight, and all the ladies there had very damaged very short hair. Please save your hair and don't go here, it was a miracle the natural parts of my hair reverted back to curly after this fiasco with only minor damage to my ends that I just trimmed away this month. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I really am impressed with the professionalism that is shown by the stylists at Vivanti. Right from my first contact with the receptionist to the owner, I felt like my business (my hair care) was their business.

Stay away from this salon if you want healthy hair. My hair was burned, cut uneven, and not styled the way I requested. Some of the stylists are not the most skillful that I have come across.
